PALM-TREEs is a project sponsored by the Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CLARE), the UK International Development, and the IDRC-CRDI. The study addresses stakeholder and community needs across six African countries such as Nigeria, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa. The project is designed to identify the consequences of extreme events as experienced by marginalized people.

As it specifically relates to the Nigerian experience, PALM-TREEs will be exploring the impact of heat stress on the health and livelihoods of communities in informal settlements in Lagos, Nigeria. In addition to this, the project will be studying the impact of flooding on the health and livelihoods of communities in flood-prone areas of Kwara State, Nigeria. The project is coordinated and supervised by institutions such as the foremost think-tank in Nigeria – The Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER), the reputable University of Lagos and the Lead City University.
