THE DISTANCE LEARNING REMOTE TEACHING METHODS (RTMs): WHAT ARE THE LESSONS LEARNT?
This Policy Brief draws on a NISER Study on Enhancing Lecturers’ Performance through Remote Teaching Methods in Nigerian Distance Learning Centres.
In the digitalised world, there is a need to develop new online teaching and learning methods. Since the COVID
19 pandemic, distance learning has become a permanent part of education; therefore, it is imperative to make virtual education delivery very effective in Nigeria. So far, close to 30 universities offer distance learning services covering various courses as approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The Remote Teaching Methods (RTMs) should enable effective teaching and learning, including self-development by lecturers. Drawing from a NISER study, this policy brief examines the usage and impact of RTMs on lecture delivery and the challenges encountered.
