On the 2nd of July, 2024 NISER hosted a Stakeholder Validation of her Strategic Plan for 2024-2028 with internal and external stakeholders. The workshop featured NISER staff and representatives from the Senate Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs, the Centre for Management Development, the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Ministry of Youths, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigerian Meteorological Agency, the Oyo State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, the Osun State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, and the Lagos State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
As the event commenced, the NISER Director-General, Professor Antonia Simbine, welcomed all present, reiterating the vision of the strategic plan to ensure NISER becomes one of the top five think tanks in Africa by the year 2028. Professor Andrew Onwuemele, the Head of the Strategic Plan development Team, presented the document outlining the targets, key performance indicators and the plans to get there as outlined in the strategic plan.
This was followed up by a breakout session, in which participants were able to further discuss the details, make input and suggestions to adjust the strategic plan and make its fulfilment a reality.
Keynote addresses from Dr Steve Ogidan (Successory Nigeria, Ltd.) and Dr Siji Adeniyi (Primetrainers Africa, Ltd.) further contributed to the discussion, highlighting NISER’s need to explore opportunities for revenue generation and sustainability.
Contributions and adjustments to the strategic plan were taken on for further deliberation and adjustment, to ensure that every department in NISER is on track with clear steps and goals to attain the goal of making NISER one of the top 5 think tanks in Africa by 2028.
