Dr. Oladeji Abubakar is an Associate Research Professor in the Political and Governance Policy Department (PGPD) of NISER. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Degree (First Class) in Political Science at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 1992, while both his Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctorate (Ph.D.) Degrees were obtained at the Premier University, Ibadan, respectively in 1997, and 2014. Dr Oladeji was a recipient of several academic distinctions and awards, including University Scholarship Award for Outstanding Students, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, 1989; Best Undergraduate in Political Science, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, 1989-1992; and J. Olanipekun Akintunde Prize for the Best Overall Graduating Students in Political Science, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, 1992.

Dr. Oladeji’s consultancy activities span a range national and international organisations, including MacArthur Foundation, ActionAid International, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Foundation for Partnership Initiative in the Niger Delta (PIND), New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) and several State Governments.  Dr Oladeji is an active member of National Political Science Association (NPSA) of Nigeria.

Dr. Oladeji’s areas of research interest includes Comparative politics, political economy, Nigerian politics and government, Public Policies, Governance, Conflicts and Development. His over fifty publications are in the aforementioned areas.
