NISER Social and Economic Watch (NSEW)

The NISER Social & Economic Watch (N-SEW) is a flagship knowledge product of the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research, established to maintain a continuous and rigorous monitor of Nigeria’s social and economic landscape. The core objective of N-SEW is to provide a comprehensive overview of the nation’s economic environment, specifically tracking the real-world impact of significant policy shifts and economic shocks—such as the unification of exchange rates and the removal of fuel subsidies.

Drawing on the most recent data, N-SEW analyzes a wide range of critical development markers to offer “decision-ready” evidence for policymakers and the public. These reports translate complex metrics—including GDP performance, trade balances, and inflationary trends—into actionable insights aimed at navigating Nigeria’s path toward productivity-led growth and improved household welfare.

Whether examining quarterly fluctuations or long-term structural bottlenecks, the N-SEW series serves as an essential resource for understanding the evolving social and economic dynamics of the country.
