On February 22, 2024, Prof. Antonia Simbine, the Director-General of NISER chaired the 2024 Public Lecture hosted by the Nigerian Economic Society. The event centered on “Recent Developments in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market: Issues, Options, and the Way Forward,” and was held at the prestigious CBN Centre of Excellence Lecture Theatre, situated within the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
The lecture drew attention to critical issues, and discussions revolved around the Nigerian Naira, the dynamics of foreign exchange rates, challenges confronting the foreign exchange market (including the operations of the parallel market), and potential solutions to these challenges.
